Kenya Police to debut at 2025 CECAFA Kagame Cup in Tanzania next month

FKF Premier League champions Kenya Police FC will make their debut at the CECAFA Kagame Cup 2025, set to take place from September 2-15 in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

The regional tournament will bring together 12 clubs from East and Central Africa, with the organisers confirming the full line-up on Friday morning. According to CECAFA Competitions Manager Yusuf Mossi, all teams are expected to arrive in Dar es Salaam on August 30, with the official draw scheduled for August 26.

“We are happy that finally all the 12 teams are confirmed and we expect them to arrive in Dar es Salaam on August 30th. The tournament will help our teams prepare ahead of the CAF competitions,” Mossi said.

Kenya Police will represent Kenya in the competition after winning the FKF Premier League title last season.

Hosts Tanzania will field Singida Black Stars, while Somalia will be represented by Mogadishu City Club. Last year’s finalists APR FC of Rwanda will also be in the mix, together with Vipers SC (Uganda) and El Merriekh SC Bentiu (South Sudan).

Other participants include Mlandege SC (Zanzibar), Flambeau du Centre (Burundi), Garde Cotes FC (Djibouti), Ethiopian Coffee SC (Ethiopia), Al Hilal Omdurman and Alahly SC Wad Madani (Sudan).

The Kagame Cup is expected to give clubs a perfect build-up ahead of the CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup. Last year, Zambian side Red Arrows FC, invited as guests, lifted the title after beating APR FC in the final.
