CAF Champions League qualifiers: Kenya Police Bullets to face Ugandan champions Kampala Queens
Kenya Police Bullets, the two-time FKF Women’s Premier League champions, will begin their journey to the 2025 CAF Women’s Champions League with a tough test against Ugandan champions Kampala Queens.
The Bullets were placed in Group A of the CECAFA Zonal qualifiers, alongside Kampala Queens and debutants Denden SC from Eritrea. The qualifiers will be staged in Nairobi at Nyayo Stadium and Ulinzi Sports Complex from September 4 to 16, 2025.
The draw was conducted on Tuesday afternoon at the SuperSport Studios in Nairobi. CECAFA Competitions Manager Yusuf Mossi oversaw the event, assisted by Harambee Starlets forward Esse Mbeyu Akida and Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Women’s Football head, Kerubo Momanyi.
Kampala Queens, who are under the guidance of former Ethiopia women’s national team coach Asefa Firew Hailegebreal, are expected to be strong challengers in Group A. However, the Bullets will fancy their chances after a strong domestic campaign and will rely on their experience from previous appearances at the regional stage.
Elsewhere, Group B will see defending champions Commercial Bank of Ethiopia (CBE) face Rayon Sports WFC from Rwanda and Burundi’s Top Girls Academy. Group C brings together former champions JKT Queens of Tanzania, Yei Joint Stars from South Sudan, and Zanzibar’s JKU Princess.
According to the tournament format, the top team in each group and the best runner-up will progress to the semifinals. The eventual champion will earn the ticket to represent the CECAFA region at the 2025 CAF Women’s Champions League.
The Bullets will be aiming to make history by booking Kenya’s first slot at the continental showpiece, with home advantage likely to boost their hopes.
